The decision was announced by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of state-owned universities, comprising the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). In interviews with correspondent, students from the Departments of Mass Communication, Computer Science, Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, and Arts and Industrial Design reflected on their experiences so far, highlighting both the benefits and difficulties of adapting to professional environments. The decision was reached on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after separate branch congresses of ASUU at the three Lagos State-owned universities.
