LASUSTECH Fee Hike: Management Reduces Certificate fee

Safiu Kehinde The management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (formerly Lagos State Polytechnic) has finally reduced the increased certificate fee   from #30,000 to #10,000 after several backlash from the Polytechnic students in the institution over the controversial increment. As contained in a statement signed by the University's registrar, David Semawon Ogunbe, the management decided to review the sudden 500 percent increment following complaints tendered by the Polytechnic’s Students Union Government and the intervention of the Vice Chancellor who submitted that the increment should not be more than 100 percent of the initial amount. The School management early last week sent a Memorandum stating the fee will be increased from 5000 naira to 30, 000 naira, which has caused distress among the students. There have been speculations on campus that students want to wage a protest from Ikorodu to Isolo Campus. LASPOTECH Postpones First semester Examination

   LASPOTECH Postpones First Semester Examination By Nurudeen Adebayo The Lagos State Polytechnic management has postponed the first-semester examination for the 2022/2023 session earlier scheduled to commence on the 15th of May. Following various protests by students on the inability to pay school fees and the efforts of the Students' Union Government of the school, the examination has been postponed until the 22nd  of May 2023. Dr. Aderogba, the Directorate of Students Affairs, disclosed that the postponement was a result of the inability of students to pay school fees. "The examination was postponed because students were not able to pay their school fees and without the fee, they will not partake in the exam" He said. Hassan Nurudeen, the SUG Public Relations Officer also added that students are not prepared for examination and lamentations on the issue of payment of school fee.

Knowledge is the opposite of illiteracy and facilitator of formal understanding- Ustadz Lambo Adebayo Nurudeen Guest lecturer, Ustadz Idress Lambo disclosed that knowledge is the opposite of illiteracy and facilitator of formal understanding of anything people aim to know, at the annual Nulass annual Ramadan lecture held at the school’s podium earlier this week. Speaking at the event tagged “Impact of Western Education to the Islamic world”, organized to bring Muslim students from every department of the school to understand the influence of western education to the Islamic community, Ustadz stated that knowledge gives final authority to what people are ignorant about and helps to think wide.
