Combating Sexual Violence With The Media

Eke van Victor With the increasing rate of sexual violence and assault on women and the girl child and the relatively increasing rate of injustice in such cases, Hacey Health Initiative, an NGO committed to Women and girl child rights activism has yet again decided to lend its voice to the cry for a clampdown on perpetrators of Sexual assaults and gender-based violence. Speaking at a Press briefing to mark the flag off of the organization’s campaign in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Rhoda Robinson, the group’s Director for Gender and Development enjoined pressmen and other media practitioners to take the fight against gender-based violence upon themselves and give prominence to cases of sexual violence on their platforms. Speaker of Laspotech SRC, Rt Hon. Balogun Releases Statement on First 100days in Office

Morenike Adetunji In a bid to celebrate the first hundred days in office, the Student Representative Council (SRC) of Lagos State Polytechnic, has said that joint efforts from the SRC and the Student Union Government in a way led to the reduction of 2018/2019 school fees. The SRC officials inaugurated into office on August 13, 2018 and having spent a hundred days in office, through the speaker, Rt. Honorable Balogun Babatunde Temidayo, highlighted the achievements of the council so far. He further mentioned the council's prospects and futuristic projections. According to the speaker, SRC and SUG successfully made effort to reduce not only the school fees, but also reduction of the third party fees and the extension of school fees payment deadline. EKE VAN VICTOR It was an evening of thrilling and energetic displays as Laspotech hosted the grand finale of the first edition of the Laspotech Students’ Talent Show in commemoration of the school’s fortieth anniversary. The grand finale which was proudly sponsored by First City Monument Bank, Indomie Noodles and Malta Guinness was held yesterday at the School of Agriculture 500 seater auditorium and was full of suspense, intrigues and entertainment as the auditorium was filled twice beyond its capacity. It turned out to be an explosive evening as the eleven contestants in dance, music and comedy categories selected at the preliminaries held last week Thursday battled for the star prize with their sonorous voices and incredible acts. There has been so many talking points this week in Laspotech. From the flag-off of the Fortieth anniversary celebrations to the Novelty match between the Governing council and staff of the school and the friendly football match between Yabatech and Laspotech which ended in Yabatech's favour to even the preliminaries of the Laspotech Students Talent Show, our content creating have found it really difficult to pick out the best talking point for the week. However, this week on six minutes  with Laspotech Press Club, we meet Ogundare Adenike Keji, the winner of the just concluded Itel intercollegiate dance competition "I got the moves" and she tells us about the journey to her recent victory.
